LEGAL NOTICE CITY OF OREM 2013 MUNICIPAL ELECTION This notice is to inform residents of the City of Orem that there will be a municipal election this year for the following offices: 1 Mayoral position (4-year term) - January 2014 - January 2018 3 City Council positions (4-year terms) - January 2014 - January 2018 The constitutional and statutory qualification requirements for municipal office are: 1. Be a United States citizen. 2. The person is a registered voter in the municipality. 3. The person will be at least 18 years old at the time of the next election. 4. The person has been a legal resident of the municipality or a resident of the recently annexed area for 12 con secutive months immediately preceding the date of the election. 5. Any mentally incompetent person, any person convicted of a felony, or any person convicted of treason or a crime against the elective franchise may not hold office in this state until the right to vote or hold elective office is restored as provided by statute. The statutory filing period is between June 1 and June 15. Because June 15, 2013, falls on a Saturday, the filing period will be extended to 5:30 p.m. on Monday, June 17, 2013. Interested parties may file for office during normal office hours at the Orem City Recorder's Office at 56 North State Street (Room 101), Monday through Thursday between 7:30 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. and Fridays between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. A fee of $35 is required at time of filing.
