Announcement of Grant Competition for Utah's 21st Century Community Learning Centers Under the Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA), the Utah State Office of Education (USOE) is anticipating receiving federal funding to be awarded through a competitive grant process for new 21st Century Community Learning Centers (CCLC). These grants are open to school districts, charter schools, and nonprofit community- and faith-based organizations, public or private. The purpose of the program is to provide five-year grants beginning July 2013 to serve students and their families attending schools with poverty levels above 40 percent. 21st Century projects should be outside regular school hours and should provide academic support, enrichment activities, and community education. More information about the grant process is available at http:// www.schools.utah.gov under the Title Programs link. Interested parties are encouraged to read the federal legislation and guidance for 21st Century Community Learning Centers. Letters of Intent are required and are due on Februarv 22,2013. This form will be available on the web site. The 21st CCLC application process will be completed electronically again this year through the a Utah Consolidated Application. Details regarding the electronic application will be provided at the mandatory Bidders' Conference on March 26. 2013. Grant applications are due on Mav 31. 2013.
