NOTICE OF INVESTIGATION REGARDING COMPLAINTS AND ALLEGATIONS OF MISCONDUCT BY TRIBAL OFFICALS AND/OR EMPLOYEES It has come to the attention of the Ute Tribal Business Committee that several individuals have expressed concern with coming forward with information concerning complaints and allegations of misconduct by tribal officials and/or employees for fear of retaliation. Please be advised that individuals may come forward with information concerning complaints and allegations of misconduct by tribal officials and/or employees anonymously. Such information can be provided to the Tribe's investigator, Randy Pissot with the Baker Street Group, Inc., directly by calling 858-673-5400. Please be advised that threats of any kind, including threats of violence, threats to commit any offense involving bodily injury, death, or substantial property damage, and any and all acts undertaken with the intention of placing a person in fear of imminent bodily injury or death are a violation of §13-4-7 of the Ute Criminal Code. The Ute Tribal Business Committee, upon receipt of verified information on a credible threat against individuals coming forward with information concerning complaints and allegations of misconduct by tribal officials and/or employees, shall refer any and all threats or acts of violence to the appropriate tribal and federal authorities, including but not limited to, the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and/or the Office of the U.S. Attorney with the intention of pursuing a criminal charge against the offending person(s) under 18 U.S.C. §16. In the event the Ute Tribal Business Committee refers any threats or actions to the Federal authorities, the Business Committee will direct Tribal and Federal law enforcement authorities to prosecute the offending person(s) to the full extent of tribal and federal law.
